Self-portrait, Austin TX, 2014
I was born in Wales, UK. Soon after, the family moved to the Sudan for five years.
At age seven, we immigrated to Canada.
I have lived and worked all across Canada, including two summers above the Arctic Circle. I taught photography, video
and visual communications, for 16 years,
at Medicine Hat College, Medicine Hat, Alberta. I am a practicing visual artist, now living with my wife, Elizabeth Zmetana,
in Val David, Québec.
I continue to make work that addresses our relationship to one another, other species
and our place in the natural world. With this work I am often thinking about transcultural identity - what we share, where we differ. I look for instances of crossover or cross-talk between species.
